LEGO Harry Potter gift-with-purchase doesn’t fit with any Diagon Alley

We’ve been waiting years for a new LEGO Harry Potter Knockturn Alley model, but the latest gift-with-purchase doesn’t fit with any other sets.

After 10217 Diagon Alley in 2011, there have been no LEGO models dedicated to the various shops in Diagon Alley’s Knockturn Alley, despite a tease in 75978 Diagon Alley that suggested more were on the table.

With the reveal of 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network, a new Knockturn Alley set is technically here but it might not be what you were expecting. The 190-piece gift-with-purchase only has the budget to cover part of the shop’s interior with a two-pin connection for the shelves to attach to the fireplace. That’s not all it can connect to though.

This two-pin connection means that 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network can theoretically attach to 76422 Diagon Alley: Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes and 76439 Ollivanders & Madam Malkin’s Robes. It will look out of place in comparison as it’s only a small section of the interior and not a facade of the shop as the other two sets are.

The type of pin connection means that 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network won’t be able to attach to 75978 Diagon Alley’s Knockturn Alley entrance. The same issue as with the smaller Diagon Alley sets would still be present though as this is not a facade of the shop.

This may be why the description for 40695 Borgin and Burkes: Floo Network discloses that it complements other sets including 75978 Diagon Alley instead of connecting to them.

The new LEGO Harry Potter set might seem somewhat odd, but news of its threshold might keep your interest when more details are revealed. It’s confirmed to pair with another upcoming LEGO Harry Potter set too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
