LEGO Ideas 21344 Orient Express rumoured for October reveal

LEGO Ideas 21344 Orient Express is rumoured to be revealed in a matter of weeks with a potential release not long after.

According to exabrickslegogo_ on Instagram, the previously-approved Orient Express LEGO Ideas set could have the set number 21344 and be available for $299.99 with 2,540 pieces.

It’s believed that it may be revealed on October 4 and be released in November. No specific date in November has been provided but traditionally, LEGO sets are released near the start of each month, even with LEGO Insiders early access. The original project submitted by LEt.sGO uses 2,995 pieces, potentially cutting around 400 bricks from the initial design. The proposed build included a track base, the main engine and a passenger carriage with a detailed interior.

Based on previous LEGO Ideas sets and the new rumour, this could be the second unlicensed LEGO train set aimed at an older audience, following 10277 Crocodile Locomotive from 2020 for £89.99 / $99.99 / €99.99 with 1,271 pieces. However, rumour has it that the LEGO Ideas train will be more than triple the price and more than double the size. A comparison with 76405 Hogwarts Express Collectors’ Edition may be apt too, despite its much more expensive price and higher overall piece count.

This is still just a rumour until officially confirmed by the LEGO Group and follows a previous report that the Orient Express would land on shelves in November 2023. It should be taken with caution until an announcement is made otherwise.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
