LEGO Ideas 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera officially revealed
The LEGO Group has officially unveiled the first LEGO Ideas set of 2024: introducing 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera.
LEGO IDEAS 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera has officially been revealed by the LEGO Group, confirming its release date, international prices, and offering a full gallery of images of the set from every angle. Originally created as LEGO Ideas submission by LEGO fan designer Marc a.k.a. Minibrick Productions, the set brings Polaroid’s first instant SLR camera to life in LEGO brick form.
Releasing on January 1 2024, 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera will retail for £69.99 / $79.99 / €79.99. The 53rd LEGO Ideas set (and first of 2024) is made up of 516 pieces and includes many of the same design features as the original OneStep Camera, from the red capture button on the front to printed LEGO ‘photos’ that the camera just captured. Also included alongside the camera is a buildable Polaroid Time-Zero Land Film pack, ready to reload.
In terms of practical features, 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera has a working viewfinder, the iconic Color Spectrum, an exposure compensation dial, and a shutter button so you can actually load and eject the illustrated photos, as well as use the opening film door to load LEGO Polaroid Photos in.
“The OneStep took a little over a month from design to completion. I actually started designing it while on vacation in France since I couldn’t wait to build it,” said Marc (also known as Minibrick Productions). “I’ve always loved the design of the Polaroid OneStep. It’s incredibly iconic and shows up everywhere!”
The LEGO Group is celebrating the launch of 21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera with a photo-centred campaign, building on the fact that the LEGO Ideas set can’t take actual photos. Stickers reading ‘not shot on LEGO Polaroid Camera’ will appear on photos in “surprising places” – although it’s not yet clear exactly where – to make virtually every photo in the world part of the new set’s promo.
