LEGO Ideas space postcard challenge winner announced

The winner of LEGO Ideas’ space postcard challenge has been confirmed, revealing a suite of creatively intergalactic designs.

To celebrate and promote 21340 Tales of the Space Age, a challenge was held on LEGO Ideas to see what other designs the community could come up with in the same style as the model based on the project originally submitted by fan designer Jan Wo?nica.

After an expert review, the three winners of this challenge have been confirmed. The grand prize winner is Delusion Brick’s Andromeda Galaxy and they’ve won  21340 Tales of the Space Age signed by the designers, 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander10497 Galaxy Explorer and 60350 Lunar Research Base

Two runners-up are going home with a signed 21340 Tales of the Space Age by the designers, 10497 Galaxy Explorer and 10266 NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander. Future Frontiers by IsleOfHeather and A Sky Full of Stars by SJs Workshop managed to impress the judges enough to earn their fan designers a prize.

The impressive array of techniques across these three designs both call back to 21340 Tales of the Space Age and expand beyond the confines of the official postcard builds and it’s not hard to see why they were selected as the winners.

While this challenge has now closed, two more are currently open and accepting entries – a STEM contest for a new set and a Lofi Girl collaboration. A third based on Japanese culture is also in its final hours of idea intake.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
