LEGO Ideas third 2023 review results have revealed a personal connection

The LEGO community is pleased with the LEGO Ideas third 2023 review results, including someone with a personal connection to a set’s inspiration.

Earlier today, the LEGO Ideas third 2023 review results were announced, confirming two upcoming sets based on intellectual property and a real-world location and there’s a Pixar build that could well be coming in the future as well.

On both X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit, LEGO enthusiasts have had the chance to react to the results and they seem to have gone down particularly well.

Jewel on X is notably excited about Galaxy333’s The Italian Riviera, pointing out that the architecture will be interesting to see recreated from the colourful walls to the tiled roofs. Over on Reddit, the excitement for this approved model was shared throughout the comment section.

“No reservations at all about the Riviera,” states LastSuccessfulToucan. “Best Ideas set since the Old Fishing House.”

The Charlie and the Chocolate Factory model by 2PPL has received positive remarks too, including from the LEGO Group’s senior vice president of digital engagement Anna Rafferty. The LEGO Group employee shared that she has experience with the author from another job two decades ago and is understandably excited about returning to the story in a different role at a different company.

“Really looking forward to Wonka,” writes Coraldiamond192 on Reddit. “I expect they might make a few changes to this submission but regardless I’ll be keeping an eye on this one.”

We can see how the LEGO Ideas team might at least modify the designs of the minifigures in 2PPL’s project, hopefully only upgrading them but the moving parts of the build make it unique and with any luck, they’ll stick around for the final design.

While the results have gone down positively overall, some are disappointed that other submissions have not been approved. This includes FrostyStardust on X who was hoping for the Subnautica build to get an official set. This sentiment is shared on Reddit too, but some were hoping for other models to be approved.

“We really wanted Phineas and Ferb,” commented NittyInTheCities. “And it would have been great timing with the show coming back.”

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
