LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition release date confirmed
Disney+ has confirmed when the upcoming LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition animated special will be released on the streaming service.
First details of a new LEGO Marvel animated special were revealed at San Diego Comic-Con back in July of this year, thanks to a teaser poster given out to those in attendance. Visitors to the LEGO booth at the show were gifted the promotional freebie, which featured a number of recognisable characters on a classic comic book-style cover.
Now comes official word from Disney+ that LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition will indeed be arriving on the streaming service on October 18. Despite the appearance of some heavy hitters such as The Hulk, Thor, Iron Man and Captain America, the emphasis in the upcoming special seems to be firmly focused on third rate, part-time hero, Demolition Man.
Debuting in Captain America #328 in April 1987, the character was originally part of the Unlimited Class Wrestling Federation, alongside other superpowered heroes and villains. Although considered by many fans to be more of a one-note joke, Demolition Man (aka Dennis Dunphy) has had a number of moments in the sun, with his upcoming starring role in the animated special likely to be his most prominent to date.
In fact a new poster released to coincide with the announcement of LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition’s release date features the D-lister front and centre, complete with Wolverine-style mask, alongside the likes of Black Panther, The Falcon and Black Widow.
Demolition Man has also previously appeared in the LEGO Marvel’s Avengers video game as a playable character, but a physical minifigure of the character has yet to be created.
At this stage there are no concrete details regarding LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition’s plot or a teaser trailer just yet, but the original poster for the animated special did feature The Avengers battling Terrax the Tamer, one of Galactus’ former heralds.
We’ll know for sure when LEGO Marvel Avengers: Mission Demolition arrives on Disney+ for all subscribers on October 18, 2024.
