LEGO 40712 Micro Rocket Launch Pad GWP availability confirmed
A LEGO GWP based on LEGO Classic Space is on the way but its release window marks an unusual decision from the LEGO Group.
Thanks to a LEGO Certified Store, we already knew that 40712 Micro Rocket Launch Pad was on the way, Space Babies and all, but we’ve now got an idea of when it will become available and for how much. An early review of the GWP from New Elementary reports that 40712 Micro Rocket Launch Pad will be available from February 16 for LEGO Insiders and for everyone else from February 19, with availability lasting until February 25. The minimum spends are an eye-watering £180 / $200 / €200 for the 325-piece build.
While that’s a pretty high price threshold, the real detail to note is that LEGO Insiders early access is now being granted to GWPs, not just to new sets. It’s relatively common to see sets become available to buy for LEGO Insiders (the LEGO Group’s free membership) but a rarity to see the same logic applied to free gifts. It’s worth noting that these details haven’t yet been confirmed publicly by the LEGO Group, so could still be subject to change.
Like all GWPs that have come before it, 40712 Micro Rocket Launch Pad is technically available until a specific date (February 25) but also until stocks last. For non-LEGO Insiders, it could well be that a set based on a popular theme like LEGO Classic Space will be snapped up before it opens up for everyone else on February 19.
