Initial LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table reactions unearthed

The reveal of LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table has prompted initial feedback from many fans, most of whom are digging the upcoming set.

The LEGO Group officially revealed LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table yesterday, with the 18+ set due for release on August 1, 2024. The 1,195-piece build celebrates the 15th anniversary of Mojang’s blocky video game and features a huge brick-built cube that includes 12 different mini Minecraft biomes and eight microfigures.

Initial fan reactions to the set announcement seem mostly positive, with one Twitter user extremely enthusiastic for the arrival of the LEGO Minecraft model. “I’m LOVING the LEGO Minecraft Crafting Table! It’s the first LEGO Minecraft set meant for display, yet it still has plenty of play potential. There are so many biomes packed into it, but not too many that it feels overwhelming. It’s really cool to revisit the original micro world sets with new LEGO pieces and biomes – it makes for an awesome display.”

That enthusiasm was echoed by many others online, with comments such as, “For me as a non-Minecraft fan this looks great. And imagine the joy of those OG LEGO Minecraft fans who have been collecting the theme since 2013 and have 21101 (Minecraft Micro World) and the other micro sets in their collection!”

“As an owner of the original micro world set, this certainly appeals!” said another excited fan. ” The price is rather steep though, considering it’s just a bunch of very small pieces, but at the right discount I could see myself picking this up. It certainly has the same charm as those original micro world sets.”

However, it hasn’t been all praise for 21265 The Crafting Table, with some flagging up the inclusion of stickers and the set not having the ability to open up like 71395 Super Mario 64 Question Mark Block.

“(The) text on those stickers would really drive me crazy,” write one commentor, “since it’s angled, it makes it look like the sticker isn’t applied correctly.”

“Not terribly impressed with the set. It’s not horrible,” posted another, “but I think I would like it better if it was more like the Mario Question Block, where the dioramas were hidden rather than having the centre cored out to make room. What if it had two sides so you can present it as a complete crafting table, but two sides were on hinges so you can open it up, showing the dioramas inside?”

You’ll be able to make up your own mind about LEGO Minecraft 21265 The Crafting Table when the set launches online and in stores from August 1, 2024, priced at £79.99 / $89.99 / €89.99.
