It’s 2023 and LEGO MrBeast is officially a thing

The latest addition to Fortnite is an official collaboration between the LEGO Group and YouTuber MrBeast, which you probably didn’t have on your bingo card for 2023.

More than 1,200 Fortnite skins either already have or are in the process of getting LEGO equivalents, including a host hooked to franchises like Star Wars and Marvel. But the latest LEGO skin to make its way to the metaverse is LEGO MrBeast – two monikers we never thought would appear in the same sentence, let alone right next to one another.

One of YouTube’s biggest stars, with 220 million subscribers under his belt at the time of writing, MrBeast first joined Fortnite’s roster of skins in December 2022 as part of Chapter 4: Season 1. He can be purchased for 1,200 V-Bucks – Fortnite’s in-game currency – or with the MrBeast bundle for 1,800 V-Bucks. And like all LEGO Fortnite skins, his minifigure version is included at no extra cost.

MrBeast last popped up in the item shop in June this year, but has now returned with the advent of his LEGO skin. His minifigure is based on the Frosted Beast style, complete with hat, which makes him that little bit more distinguishable in LEGO form. And he can be yours (at least digitally) with an in-game purchase. Just don’t hold your breath for a physical version.

LEGO Fortnite is filled with character skins that match their real-life minifigures one for one, but others take plenty of creative liberty to go above and beyond – or sometimes just away from – their plastic equivalents. Take Rogue, for instance, who looks very different between LEGO Fortnite and the upcoming 76281 X-Men X-Jet. And with so many LEGO Fortnite skins on the table, it feels very unlikely that any licensed characters will ever come to shelves.

Still, you never know. We’ve not heard anything yet on physical LEGO Fortnite sets, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t in the works – and with one eye on the incredible success the survival crafting game mode has enjoyed post-launch, it feels like the obvious next step for the LEGO Group.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
