LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising introduces Core characters

LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising Season 1 Part 2’s latest trailer has teased the full introduction of an enemy faction from the Core sets.

A villain-centric teaser trailer for LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising Season 1’s second part has been released ahead of the episodes’ release on October 12. Switching the focus to the baddies of the new episodes, the trailer looks beyond Imperium – which debuted in the first part – showcasing a wide array of monsters.

From another look at the portal-creating suited minifigures and their home base, resembling a giant office, to the return of a Maaray Guard from Seabound, there’s a lot for NINJAGO enthusiasts to look forward to. We can’t imagine that the Maaray Guard is pleased with the team after the ending of Seabound.

However, the middle of the trailer features a quick glimpse at some familiar minifigures wearing skull masks and adorned in thematically-appropriate armour.

The description of the trailer confirms that these are the same characters from the enemy faction introduced in the second wave of NINJAGO Core models. The Greenbone Warriors are an original skeleton-adjacent faction of villains that were designed to offer an easier introduction to the baddies of NINJAGO, as is the purpose of Core.

The faction is led by the Bone King, pictured in the centre of the scene and is made up of Bone Knights, Bone Warriors and Bone Hunters. Their designs don’t appear to have changed apart from the loss of some armour elements and a cape. One was featured in an earlier episode of NINJAGO Dragons Rising but it’s interesting to see that the once non-canon characters have a larger part to play in the season.

This just leaves the orange and grey Serpentine from the first wave of Core sets, which remain non-canon at the time of writing. However, it wouldn’t be much harder theoretically to introduce these villains than the Greenbone Warriors in a future episode of NINJAGO Dragons Rising
