LEGO partners with Batobus for themed boat just in time for Paris Olympics

The LEGO Group is partnering with river cruise company Batobus to launch a LEGO-themed boat during and after the Paris Olympics.

From July 31 until September 16, anyone with a Batobus pass for the route along the Seine River in Paris might be boarding a LEGO-decorated boat instead of one of the company’s normal vehicles.

This partnership is likely timing with the Olympics currently running in the city until August 11 and the official press release features an image of the LEGO boat.

The boat includes a yellow and white hull and pieces on top including an upscaled LEGO seagull. A closer look at the vessel has been shared on Instagram ahead of its launch tomorrow.

The inside of the boat is decorated too as guests can participate in a few activities to win prizes and admire a life-sized minifigure. Passengers will also receive a LEGO postcard and a passport to stamp at LEGO stores.

The partnership isn’t just limited to the river as there will be an array of models on show at the various stops along the route, including at least a few that have been specially designed for the promotion.

This includes a 3.30-metre-tall Eiffel Tower at the Eiffel Tower stop and a 2.80-metre-tall flower bouquet at the Jardin des Plantes.

A Batobus one-day pass costs €23 for adults and €13 for children aged four to 11 online and toddlers board for free. There’s no way to guarantee that you’ll be boarding the LEGO boat though as seats are subject to availability and we imagine it will be more popular than the standard boats. You might have to keep trying throughout the day that you are visiting.

It’s an intriguing partnership for the LEGO Group and it seems to have been executed well and with plenty of thought beyond the boat. There’s no doubt that it times nicely with the Paris Olympics too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
