LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog Shadow the Hedgehog set revealed

A first-of-its-kind LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog bust model has been revealed ahead of the third Sonic movie, featuring Shadow the Hedgehog.

The Hollywood Reporter is back to revealing LEGO sets ahead of San Diego Comic-Con, kicking off what could be an exciting week of LEGO set reveals. This is the first official confirmation of a Shadow the Hedgehog bust as part of the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog theme but details on price and release date have yet to be confirmed.

It seems likely that this is the rumoured 77000 Shadow Bust that was reported earlier this year, but the set number and other details have yet to be confirmed. Presumably, this model will be showcased at the LEGO Group’s booth at San Diego Comic-Con over the next few days and be given a full reveal on LEGO.com soon.

For now, we can take an early look at this unique build, which sits in an odd position in the ongoing LEGO helmet and prop collection as a recreation of the organic head of Shadow the Hedgehog.

The techniques used to capture the character’s shaping include a printed quarter dome element. This part usage could be featured in a build again for other Sonic the Hedgehog characters, should this collection continue. For now, this Shadow the Hedgehog stands alone and given its similarities to the LEGO helmet sets, it seems likely to be the first, or second 18+ LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog set.

LEGO Ideas 21331 Sonic the Hedgehog – Green Hill Zone is the first 18+ set based on Sonic the Hedgehog but it’s part of the LEGO Ideas theme. The plaque on this creation indicates that it will be part of the LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog theme, which technically has no 18+ sets on shelves yet.

We’ll hopefully have more details on this Shadow the Hedgehog bust in the coming days but for now, LEGO Sonic the Hedgehog seems to be heading in an interesting direction ahead of the third Sonic movie. Three more sets launch in just over a week too.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
