LEGO Space Micro Rocket Launchpad returns – but with a few exceptions

The terms and conditions of LEGO Space GWP 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad reveal there are some exclusions to earning it.

40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad is available now as a GWP on LEGO purchases over £180 / $200 / €200 – barring a couple of sets. Buying LEGO Technic 42172 McLaren P1 and LEGO DREAMZzz 71486 Castle Nocturnia will not contribute towards the minimum spend. If you want to buy either or both of those sets and still earn 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad, you’ll need to spend at least £180 / $200 / €200 on other LEGO sets.

The reason for this, although not officially confirmed, is likely linked to the other GWPs currently available. 42172 McLaren P1 comes with its own exclusive GWP, the buildable McLaren P1 Logo, while there’s a LEGO DREAMZzz polybag pair that comes free with orders of £45 / $50 / €50 or more on LEGO CityFriendsDREAMZzzNINJAGO and Harry Potter. This could be a sign of the LEGO Group wanting to reduce the amount of GWPs per purchase or to prevent people from qualifying for multiple GWPs with one set.

This isn’t the first time that restrictions have been placed on the LEGO Space GWP. The last time it was available back in February, it was only available for LEGO Insiders, despite being planned for a wider release that never quite materialised. There are still plenty of new LEGO sets that will qualify you for 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad but, if you were hoping to double up on the Space GWP and the McLaren P1 Logo, that just got a bit more expensive.
