LEGO Star Wars 75389 The Dark Falcon doesn’t have to be non-canon

LEGO Star Wars 75389 The Dark Falcon may be based on a non-canon special, but it doesn’t have to be that way in your collection.

Just preceding the new trailer for LEGO Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, a fan-designed alternate build has surfaced for 75389 The Dark Falcon that keeps the exclusive minifigures but makes the model significantly more canonical than the black and red Millennium Falcon.

While 75389 The Dark Falcon is undoubtedly unique, there’s no doubt that it’s going to stand out in your collection – even next to other Millennium Falcon models. Thankfully, the_bricked_cave on Rebrickable has a solution for those who’d prefer it to blend in.

The colour scheme and part selection of 75389 The Dark Falcon lends itself well to another black and red vehicle that is sufficiently more canon to the Star Wars narrative – the TIE Silencer.

This custom creation reuses 75389 The Dark Falcon’s parts to make a huge depiction of the TIE Silencer, complete with a display stand and four seats inside. None of the minifigures are affected by this build either, meaning you can keep Darth Jar Jar safely to the side.

2017’s 75179 Kylo Ren’s TIE Fighter was available for £74.99 / $79.99 / €79.99 and has been retired for a while. This alternate build also offers those who missed the sequel trilogy set a chance to add the vehicle to their collection with the trade-off that it’s much bigger and more expensive.

75389 The Dark Falcon is newly available for £159.99 / $179.99 / €179.99 and the custom instructions cost another $10 on top of that. This is comparable to how much a sealed copy of the set costs on BrickLink though.

As mentioned in our review, 75389 The Dark Falcon is better than you might expect and you may not feel the need to hide its non-canon nature in your collection. At least you have the option to make it blend in now though. 75389 The Dark Falcon is available now alongside two other Rebuild the Galaxy sets and the special event is streaming on September 13.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
