LEGO Star Wars designers add an extra something to signed sets in Billund

The LEGO House in Billund is home to various treasures, including some uniquely signed LEGO Star Wars sets with an extra special message.

Billund’s LEGO House is well worth a visit for any LEGO fan who gets the chance, with exhibits documenting LEGO history and various interactive building experiences to suit all houses. Buying a memento is a must and one option while you’re out there is to pick up pre-signed sets from the LEGO designers themselves.

One recent visitor posted their finds to reddit, sharing some of the witty and undoubtedly unique messages left on some recent LEGO Star Wars releases. 75383 Darth Maul’s Sith Infiltrator, for example, comes with the quip: “Some Mall. This ship doesn’t even have a food court.”

Scrolling through the gallery above reveals more lighthearted jokes, ranging from banter back and forth between three DRK-1 Probe Droids to describing 75396 Desert Skiff & Sarlacc Pit as “the pits.”

It’s a little taste of some of the one-of-a-kind items you can find in Billund and an easier way to get your hands on a signed set if your local LEGO store isn’t one that often hosts designer events. While you won’t get to meet the designers as they sign, it’s an extra reason to hold onto your LEGO boxes, if that’s your style.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.

We just completed session 5 of the 2024 LEGO Inside Tour at Billund (Highly recommended!!!). We noted many City, Star Wars, and LEGO House exclusives signed and on the shelves in the House store. Jme Wheeler was only too happy to stop and chat whilst signing boxes in the late afternoon… he cheerfully writes pithy and witty comments on the 40501 The Wooden Duck set. Stuart Harris was also wandering the grand entrance of the House, as was Boone Langston of US LEGO Masters fame. All are friendly, approachable, and keen to engage with the public on our favourite theme.
