LEGO Star Wars games are some of the best-selling in the franchise’s history

A new ranking of the best-selling Star Wars games in history paints a picture of LEGO Star Wars’ huge influence, making up nearly half the list.

Executive director & video game industry advisor at Circana, Mat Piscatella, has shared an updated list of the best-selling Star Wars games in the US between January 1995 and May 2024, revealing just how well LEGO Star Wars games have done compared to the many other titles based on a galaxy far, far away.

LEGO Star Wars games make up a huge portion of the list, taking the fourth, fifth, ninth and 10th slot and it’s especially interesting to see that the original LEGO Star Wars game is at the bottom, considering the legacy that it has left behind.

The only LEGO Star Wars games not featured on the list are LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, LEGO Star Wars Battles and LEGO Star Wars: Castaways. Considering that three of those titles are mobile games, it would make sense that they didn’t make the best-sellers list.

Even considering that the fact that four of the top 10 best-selling Star Wars games in the US are LEGO Star Wars games only goes to show just how important the LEGO Group has been to Star Wars’ history and vice-versa.

It’s also interesting to see Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order at the second spot considering how recent it is compared to the rest of the list, partially explaining why Cal Kestis is to be featured exclusively in 75394 Imperial Star Destroyer following the retired 75335 BD-1.

We’d also point out that the LEGO Group has released sets tying into four of the six non-LEGO games on the list, leaving just Star Wars: Battlefront II (2005) and Star Wars: Jedi Survivor to be untouched by LEGO Star Wars in any way. This list has proven to be surprisingly appropriate for the 25th anniversary of LEGO Star Wars this year.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
