LEGO teams up with Tan France in Play is Your Superpower campaign

Take a first look at one of the LEGO Group’s celebrity partnerships for the Play is Your Superpower campaign, starring a familiar face from Queer Eye.

Fashion designer Tan France has shared a video on Instagram of himself building 10313 Wildflower Bouquet, while also discussing the LEGO Group’s most recent campaign: Play is Your Superpower. France also discusses how important play was to him as a child, paving the way for his success as a fashion designer and global TV personality.

“Play gave me a superpower that helped me make my dreams a reality,” he wrote in the caption. “That superpower was imagination. My imagination has taken me from styling my favourite flowers in my imaginary florist as a kid, to styling my favourite people on a global stage today.”

Play is Your Superpower aims to families to reprioritise playtime, emphasising its critical importance in childhood development and the role it has in bringing fun to families around the world. The Play Squad of four celebrities (Tan France, Naomi Watanabe, Bindi Irwin and Stephanie Beatriz) will all share their own superpowers that play has given them and why they believe it should be a priority for every child – starting with France in this video.

“With the new additions in our family, playtime is a priority in my household and I encourage you to make it a priority in yours too,” France said, referring to the two children he has now had with his husband Rob France, with his youngest being born just a few months ago in May of 2023.

This isn’t the first time that Tan France has worked with the LEGO Group, with all five of the Fab Five from Netflix’s Queer Eye (including France) being involved in the creation of LEGO Ideas 10291 Queer Eye – The Fab 5 Loft, featuring all five of them as minifigures. Although the set is now retired, it’s still available through John Lewis – and at a 25% discount.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
