LEGO Technic 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 marks a milestone for a new-to-2024 colour

LEGO Technic 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line enjoys the largest amount of reddish orange pieces yet, marking a new milestone for the 2024 colour.

Three new colours joined the LEGO palette in January of this year, the brightest of which was reddish orange. It made early appearances in some of the early space-themed sets like  60433 Modular Space Station and 60434 Space Base and Rocket Launchpad, while also being used for vibrant accents in 42639 Andrea’s Modern Mansion and over 50 other sets, according to BrickLink.

Each set brought new elements for the colour, with the LEGO Friends set offering reddish orange tiles for the first time, for example. However, 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line shows off the colour at its finest, with a large proportion of the LEGO Technic set’s 2,891 pieces rendered in reddish orange.

Being a LEGO Technic set, the majority of those new pieces will likely be Technic elements. However, it also looks 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line will also mark the debut of a 1×1 slope, lining the front bonnet of the brick-built car. It’s hard to be sure with a set not yet released but it doesn’t look like we’ve got any standard 1×2 bricks, or in any other size just yet.

There’s therefore still a way to go until we have a full variety of reddish orange LEGO elements. Some are even already available to order online via LEGO Pick a Brick, including Technic elements, wheels, lattice towers, tiles, and more, so you don’t have to buy full sets to add the new-to-2024 colour to your inventory at all.

If you do fancy buying a full set packed full of reddish orange pieces, however, 42177 Mercedes-Benz G 500 PROFESSIONAL Line will retail for £219.99 in the UK, $249.99 in the US and €249.99 in Europe and is available to pre-order from LEGO.com and Zavvi now, due to ship from August 1.
