LEGO 41838 Travel Moments changed a lot from its original design

The upcoming 41838 Travel Moments has gone through a number of major design changes when compared to its original source material.

We got our first look at the upcoming 41838 Travel Moments earlier this month via an online retailer, with the 1,231-piece set now officially confirmed to be launching August 1. The build is based on Christopher and Robert’s winning LEGO MASTERS Season 4 finale design and will be priced at £129.99 in the UK, $149.99 in the US and €149.99 in Europe.

However, the look of the model has changed considerably from its original source material, with the duo’s ‘World Wonderliner’ representing only a small part of the overall 41838 Travel Moments build.

In addition, the upcoming LEGO set has gone through a number of concept stages and revisions, as revealed in a new video from DuckBricks. The post details Christopher and Robert’s journey with the LEGO team to create the model, including the pair taking a trip to Billund, Denmark to see the finished set in person.

While initial versions of 41838 Travel Moments featured a much larger version of the World Wonderliner and brick-built landmarks, the LEGO team ultimately decided that the focus should be on the map and plane, with some smaller vehicles included.

At LEGO’s HQ, Christopher and Robert got to meet the LEGO team behind the design of the set, assemble the model with them and discover why the ability to construct 41838 Travel Moments with others is an essential feature of the set.

41838 Travel Moments will launch on August 1, 2024, with the model priced at £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99. A US-exclusive version will also be available in that region, one that includes a portrait of Christopher and Robert, alongside other content yet to be revealed.
