Two legends of international football have come together to celebrate the LEGO Group counting down to the FIFA World Cup 2026 final.
This weekend sees the FIFA World Cup 2026 final taking place at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, USA, with Spain and Argentina battling it out for ultimate pitch supremacy. Ahead of tomorrow’s match, the LEGO Group has reunited two of the game’s biggest legends to mark the culmination of this year’s massive sporting event.
Xavi Hernández from Spain and Javier Mascherano from Argentina were both in attendance at Rockefeller Center, New York, where the LEGO Group recently unveiled an 8.47-meter tall FIFA World Cup trophy comprised of 1.36 million bricks.
The former players were there representing the two finalist teams and to demonstrate that even the greatest of rivals can be united by the power of play. The two legends also exchanged brick-built LEGO pennants inspired by their home nations, as a symbolic gesture of respect and unity ahead of the final.
"Playing for your country is one of the greatest honours in football,” said Xavi, “and reaching a FIFA World Cup Final is something every player dreams of. Rivalries are part of what makes the game so special, but moments like this remind us that football is about bringing people together.

The giant-sized FIFA World Cup trophy was officially unveiled by Brazilian football legend Cafu on July 6, with fans of the beautiful game still able to get their hands on a much smaller version in the shape of LEGO Editions 43020 FIFA World Cup trophy, priced at £159.99 / $199.99 / €179.99.
