LEGO Wicked brings back Minions feature with major upgrade

There’s an interesting connection between LEGO Wicked and LEGO Minions as a Despicable Me 4 feature is back with a major upgrade.

One of the four LEGO Despicable Me 4 sets includes a tile decorated with a QR code that takes you to an animated video starring 75581 Minions’ Music Party Bus.

It turns out that this wasn’t a one-off function as QR codes are featured in all four LEGO Wicked sets and we already know what they’ll unlock when scanned. As you can read about in our initial report, every LEGO Wicked set features a QR code that can be scanned to unlock ‘inspirational content’ according to the press release.

The press release details two of the QR code’s content. 75683 Glinda & Elphaba’s Dormitory’s code can be scanned to play the song ‘Popular’. 75682 Elphaba & Glinda Figures’ code can be similarly scanned to play ‘Defying Gravity’.

Given these confirmed examples, it’s likely that the last two codes can be scanned to play two other songs from the upcoming movie. Official images block part of the codes aside from one, where you can get a good enough look at the code to scan it early.

This code is from 75684 Welcome to Emerald City and at the time of writing, it’s not functioning completely but does take you to the kid’s section of LEGO.com. This is likely where the songs will be hosted, and we may even be treated to LEGO animations of the songs as videos, based on the previous LEGO Despicable Me 4 animation.

That’s not confirmed just yet and the website is unlikely to be updated anytime soon given that the LEGO Wicked sets don’t launch until October 1. You can find out more about these upcoming builds by clicking here

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
