There’s something missing in the LEGO Star Wars: Skeleton Crew set

75374 The Onyx Cinder is the only LEGO Star Wars: Skeleton Crew set, but a first look at the series has revealed something missing from the build.

75374 The Onyx Cinder covers the main cast as minifigures, the ship itself and interior sections that will presumably be accurate to the series. First-look images feature something not included in the set though and it’s odd to see them excluded.

From 7151 Sith Infiltrator in 1999 to 75314 The Bad Batch Attack Shuttle and even more recent models, the LEGO Group loves to pair large ships with one or two speeders when it’s appropriate.

For both The Phantom Menace and The Bad Batch sets, the inclusion of speeders makes sense since they appear in the source material – at some point. The list of examples of LEGO Star Wars ships featuring speeders is numerous and 75374 The Onyx Cinder could have been on that list.

The first-look images of Skeleton Crew feature multiple shots of the children riding speeder bikes, complete with streamers on the handlebars. They appear in the series yet they’re absent from 75374 The Onyx Cinder, despite the LEGO Group’s penchant for including small speeders in larger ship sets.

There might be multiple reasons for this, from them not being in provided concept art to not fitting inside the ship and it may be that they only feature briefly in the series. Still, these unique Star Wars speeders could have made for some interesting small builds.

Hopefully, it won’t be long until someone shares a fan-made design for them shortly after Skeleton Crew starts streaming on December 3. In the meantime, 75374 The Onyx Cinder is available now for £124.99 / $139.99 / €139.99.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
