There’s a mystery 13th LEGO D&D minifigure code – but Brick Search has the solution

A mystery 13th LEGO Dungeons & Dragons minifigure code is popping up on some boxes in the UK, but don’t panic – you can still find all 12 characters with Brick Search.

The Brick Search app currently has confirmed and verified codes for every 71047 Dungeons & Dragons minifigure in the US, and the team is working hard to verify the UK and EU codes. If you scan a D&D box using Brick Search, and the result is a single character, that is what will be inside, no question. But if you scan a particular code that’s popping up around the UK, you’ll get a slightly different result.

In addition to the 12 codes unique to each character in 71047 Dungeons & Dragons, the Brick Search team has received multiple reports of a mystery 13th code that could belong to either Tasha the Witch Queen or Szass Tam. You’re essentially rolling 20 for perception on the rest, but only 10 on this one, because it’s a 50/50 shot as to what’s inside.

You won’t be stumbling about in the dark, though: the Brick Search team has already identified the code in question, so if you find it and scan it using the app you’ll get a message telling you that you’re holding a rare Dungeons & Dragons box that could contain either Tasha or Szass. Based on reports so far, it seems more likely to be Tasha, but the code has been used for Szass too.

The team is keeping a tally to establish which is the likelier of the two, so if you do come across this elusive code and decide to roll the dice on seeing what’s inside the box, please get in touch with the Brick Search team and let them know the result by emailing [email protected].

It’s tricky to say at this stage whether this code will appear in all production runs of 71047 Dungeons & Dragons or whether it’s made its way on to store shelves in the UK in error, but we’ve reached out to the LEGO Group for clarification. If it does end up only being in this initial production run, that 13th code could turn out to be a hard-to-find collectible if you’re trying to amass all the codes…

Don’t forget, this doesn’t mean that it’s impossible to find Tasha the Witch Queen or Szass Tam specifically: each of those characters also has their own unique code, and if you scan a box and Brick Search tells you one of them is unambiguously inside, then that’s the one you’ve found. It’s only that rogue 13th code that will return the 50/50 message.

71047 Dungeons & Dragons officially debuts in LEGO Stores on September 1, but the blind-boxed characters are already starting to show up in stores in the US and possibly the UK. If you find them on shelves in the UK before Sunday, email the team (again on [email protected]) to let them know where.

Make sure to download Brick Search on Android or iOS before you head out so you’re ready to scan for your favourite characters. Find out more about Brick Search’s minifigure scanner by clicking here.

What’s this about a 13th LEGO D&D code?

In addition to the 12 regular codes unique to each of the characters in 71047 Dungeons & Dragons, the Brick Search team has received multiple reports that a mystery 13th code is in the wild – and it could belong to either Tasha the Witch Queen or Szass Tam. The likeliest option at the moment appears to be Tasha, but the code has been used for both characters so far.

How do I know if I have a mystery LEGO D&D box?

You won’t need to guess for yourself whether you’ve got the bonus code. If you do come across it and scan it with Brick Search, the app will know and tell you outright that this specific box could be either Tasha the Witch Queen or Szass Tam. If you scan a box and it tells you that you have one of those characters specifically, then great news, you’ve picked up the unique identifiers for those minifigures and don’t have to roll the dice on getting one of the two.

Can I still guarantee finding Tasha the Witch Queen and Szass Tam?

Yep – both Tasha the Witch Queen and Szass Tam have their own unique codes that can be used to identify them individually. If you come across one of the codes unique to either Szass Tam or Tasha the Witch Queen, Brick Search will show you a specific minifigure, guaranteeing which is inside.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.

    In Germany there is an additional problem. Currently it seems to occur only with at one supermarket. User of my app noticed some irregularity in the last few days.

    Should be -> Was
    4 – DRAGONBORN PALADIN (EU1) -> 7 – MIND FLAYER
    All messages I received are from production run 225S4 (18.06.2024).

    Should be -> Was
    2 – GITH WARLOCK (EU2) -> 1 – DWARF BARBARIAN
    All messages I received are from production run 324S4 (12.06.2024).

      I’m in UK, and I also got the Druid, which showed on app as Szass Tam. I had a whole new case of 36, and no Druids showed up, just all Szass Tam. I am going to use box order method to try and pick up Szass. bottom left, first 3 figs.
