Rumoured LEGO DC Superman mech could be more exciting than expected
LEGO DC is rumoured to venture beyond Batman early next year and while it’s only reported to do so in a single set, it has a lot of potential.
One of a handful of LEGO DC sets rumoured for 2025 by Instagram user brick_clicker is suggested to not include Batman – what would be the first set in years to do so. 76302 Superman Mech vs Lex Luthor’s rumoured name implies that it will include minifigures of Superman and Lex Luthor, matching up with what we’ve seen in recent two-character mech packs.
The current range of character mechs based on Star Wars and Marvel might offer some insight into what to expect from the rumoured minifigures too and it’s possible that 76302 Superman Mech vs Lex Luthor could be a major highlight of January 2025. Remember to take all information in this report with caution as some details may be proven inaccurate or false next year.
While many LEGO character mechs include standard or otherwise common minifigures of the characters, including 76270 Batman Mech Armor, many others from Marvel include exclusive versions of those characters. There are plenty of iterations of Superman and Lex Luthor that we’ve yet to see in a set.
76203 Iron Man Mech Armor specifically includes an Iron Man minifigure loosely inspired by the main armour featured in Iron Man 3, offering an idea of the potential that the rumoured mech could hold, whether inspired by the comics or movies. It’s worth noting that a new Superman movie is coming next year too.
Even discounting the multiple character mechs that have featured exclusive versions of their respective characters, the last non-Collectible Minifigures Superman minifigure was released in 2018 and Lex’s last minifigure debuted that same year. Both have long since retired and it seems likely that any new set featuring the duo would feature new minifigures of the characters rather than re-use a past design.
As noted, while LEGO DC has only covered a Batman character mech so far, Marvel has comparatively covered a wide swathe of its cast over a longer period and more DC mechs could be a chance to reintroduce other heroes to the theme in inexpensive models too.
There’s no doubt that the rumoured 76302 Superman Mech vs Lex Luthor isn’t the most exciting model on the list of LEGO DC sets rumoured for 2025 at face value but it shouldn’t be overlooked for the sheer potential that it could hold. Just take any details on it with caution for now as it’s still a rumour at the time of writing.
