Rumoured LEGO Formula 1 CMF strategy might be genius

Early rumours of a LEGO Formula 1 Collectible Minifigures series might not be what you were expecting, but it might be a genius move.

Rumours posit that a LEGO Formula 1 Collectible Minifigure series is coming next year, but that it won’t include any minifigures. Instead, a.clay.brick reports, with the help of palnetttt, that the rumoured April 2025 minifigure series will call back directly to LEGO Racers’ smallest sets in the form of heads sticking out of miniature cars.

As we discussed in our original report of this rumour, this might mean a lower number of minifigure slots for the increased number of parts. 10 ‘minifigures’ for the 10 teams would make sense but there’s another level of strategy to this rumoured decision.

Provided that the reported series includes depictions of real drivers, recreating just the heads would allow you to swap them between teams just as they do in the latest seasons of the sport.

Similarly, opting for minifigures based on real Formula 1 drivers would mean some comparable torsos and legs for their racing outfits. Rumour has it that Formula 1 will be a multi-theme campaign in 2025 similar to Space this year. That might mean plenty of opportunity to make minifigure racing suits for all 10 teams anyway.

Choosing heads sticking out of cars instead still provides the most important part of the minifigure but with a more varied building experience than minifigures without any required accessories would provide.

As well as calling back to LEGO Racers’ history, this rumoured strategy might be a genius move on the LEGO Group’s part but at the time of writing, this remains only a rumour. You should take it with caution until more is officially confirmed.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
