Seven of the best LEGO Star Wars mods you can do right now

Getting bored of some of your old LEGO Star Wars sets? These LEGO Star Wars mods will help inject new life into your old favourites.

Part of the joy of being a LEGO fan is the creativity that comes with it. Rebuilding and fine-tuning your favourite sets is a way to help them go even further in their lifetime and can often yield some custom models that are even better than the original.

Of course, that kind of creativity doesn’t come naturally to everyone. Thankfully, if your skills are not geared towards custom builds, there are plenty of talented people out there sharing their designs and, most importantly, the instructions to recreate them yourself.

With 25 years of LEGO Star Wars sets on shelves, we thought we would spotlight some of our favourite LEGO Star Wars mods to light those creative fires and help you return to some beloved older sets.

75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle into Midi-scale Venator Cruiser

75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle only came out last year but it was far from the most high-profile LEGO Star Wars ship even from that wave, outshone ever so slightly by the return of the iconic Rebels ship in 75357 Ghost & Phantom II. However, the colour scheme of the former is pretty close to that of the Venator, lending itself perfectly to be modded into a midi-scale version of the ship, as evidenced by clydedt‘s mod. Seeing as 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle only costs £64.99 / $79.99 / €74.99, a fraction of the UCS set at £559.99 / $649.99 / €649.99, this is a far cheaper way to add the Venator to your collection.

75391 Captain Rex Y-Wing Microfighter into Rex Podracer

If you’re one of many who bought 75391 Captain Rex Y-Wing Microfighter for the minifigure, MOCaBrick has an alternative podracer build that, in our opinion, packs a greater punch than the original. Podracers are some of the best-designed ships out there and it suggests an alternative universe where Rex lived out his life as a podracer, rather than returning to a life of fighting and being on the run. Most of all though, it just looks very cool.

75300 Imperial TIE Fighter into TIE Interceptor

Having retired last year, you might be looking for something new to freshen up your copy of 75300 Imperial TIE Fighter. The silhouette of the Interceptors offers a more striking look, so why not follow in glenn_tanner55‘s footsteps and turn your Fighter into an Interceptor? It requires no extra parts and, thanks to sharing the same body, is impressively accurate to the on-screen versions that we know and love.

75321 The Razor Crest Microfighter into N1 Starfighter

Mando has updated his ship, so perhaps now is the time to change 75321 The Razor Crest Microfighter into the N1 Starfighter, without buying a new set or any additional pieces. Thanks to PiXEL-DAN, you can easily mod your tiny Mandalorian ship into a more recent version, staying in line with the canon of the Disney+ TV show.

75369 Boba Fett Mech into Hulked-Out Mech

Image: BBX4 on Rebrickable

The trio of LEGO Star Wars mechs that came out in 2023 were somewhat of a surprise direction for the theme but this alternative build from BBX4 made up of two copies of 75369 Boba Fett Mech feels more like something that the bounty hunter would actually use. The stocky legs, wide shoulder pads, and truly massive gun make for a more intimidating build overall, all made up of the parts from two copies of the LEGO Star Wars mech.

75257 Millennium Falcon into Micro Exegol Throne Room

Image: Brick-a-Brack on Rebrickable

We recently raised Exegol as a Star Wars location we’ve not yet seen – but one that we should – and, if the LEGO Group won’t do it, then let’s turn to Brick-a-Brack. Their alternate build of 75257 Millennium Falcon offers a microscale diorama of the Sith throne room on Exegol, from the towering throne, the intimidating stadium seats for Sith followers and even a version of what looks like the tank that sustained zombie Palpatine for as long as it did. The detail is impressive enough to make us want some official and up-close sets based on Exegol, but this will certainly do in the meantime.

75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship into Three Alternate Ships

Image: Will_Crafting on Rebrickable

75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship breaks the mold for the theme’s typically grey colour scheme with its red and white look, so why not carry those colours a little further? Will_Crafting‘s mod creates three ships from the same parts used to create just one. In fact, you can even choose between four vehicles, including a V-wing, a V-19 Torrent and a Y-wing OR a TX130 fighter tank. The build even includes brackets for both the V-wing and the Y-wing, providing everything you need for a dynamic three-vehicle display.
