Seven LEGO Star Wars sets you probably don’t remember
Not all LEGO Star Wars sets are going to be a hit and some are inevitably going to be all but forgotten by the entire community, including these sets.
LEGO Star Wars has been going for 25 years and has hundreds of builds to its name. With a portfolio like that, you’d be forgiven for forgetting more than half of those models. That said, there are some that even the most die-hard enthusiasts will have already forgotten or will almost certainly forget eventually.
From a new mech model to a build that never appeared in any Star Wars media, here are seven LEGO Star Wars sets you probably don’t remember.
7 – 75370 Stormtrooper Mech
Four LEGO Star Wars mechs have been released so far, including 75368 Darth Vader Mech, 75369 Boba Fett Mech, 75390 Luke Skywalker X-Wing Mech and arguably the least memorable – 75370 Stormtrooper Mech.
While the Star Wars mechs are an unusual idea for the theme, they’re not necessarily a bad concept, but 75370 Stormtrooper Mech‘s release alongside two more iconic characters with more visually appealing mechs makes the 138-piece set a bit more forgettable by comparison.
It’s not even a worthwhile strategy for building up an army of Stormtroopers at £12.99 / $15.99 / €15.99 for one minifigure while there have been multiple battle packs featuring them previously, though it is the best deal on Stormtroopers currently available. That said, it does make the most sense as a mech as the Imperial army would probably fund a battalion of mechs given the opportunity. Still, the mechs appear to be going by without much fanfare overall.
6 – 75242 Black Ace TIE Interceptor
75242 Black Ace TIE Interceptor is one of two sets designed to tie in with Star Wars Resistance. The sequel trilogy series takes place in an era that is already not quite as well-received as either the prequel or original trilogies (though that doesn’t speak at all to Resistance’s quality). While there are many unique ships in the series, it has now finished with only a duo of models to its name.
The series’ other set is 75240 Major Vonreg’s TIE Fighter and that build features minifigures of Major Vonreg, Kaz Xiono and General Leia, plus Bucket (R1-J5), including both iconic characters and the main protagonist and a major antagonist of the show. It also depicts an alternate version of an iconic Star Wars ship and in comparison, 75242 Black Ace TIE Interceptor’s modified ship model and pair of minifigures are not quite as memorable by comparison.
5 – 75098 Assault on Hoth
While 75098 Assault on Hoth was met with some reactions upon its reveal and release, the odd Ultimate Collector Series set has been all but forgotten since its launch in 2016. Initial complaints included the collections shift from its lack of new Hoth builds to its less impressive minifigures in a £229.99 / $249.99 / €249.99 package.
The series has returned to minifigure-scale sets since but with lessons learnt from 75098 Assault on Hoth. Fast forward to today and there’s little to no demand for a return of the Ultimate Collector Series build and no sign of a re-release from the LEGO Group. There are also not as many complaints online about the set anymore as it has simply been forgotten.
4 – 75177 First Order Heavy Scout Walker
Of the many LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens sets, 75177 First Order Heavy Scout Walker is undoubtedly the least memorable. Looking at their main model, you might be confused as to where exactly it appeared in the movie. The truth is, it didn’t. Any scenes containing it appear to have been cut from the final product, leaving the LEGO set in an odd situation where it had no value in its recognition to rely on after its launch.
It’s a unique design for a walker that lends itself well to a unique LEGO mechanism but unfortunately, it has become the most forgettable of The Force Awakens models. To be fair, it’s hard to blame the community for forgetting about this set as it was never featured in official Star Wars media other than merchandise.
3 – 75293 Resistance I-TS Transport
As appealing as 75293 Resistance I-TS Transport should be with its exclusive cast of characters, the £89.99/$99.99/€99.99 is based on an incredibly specific piece of source material set within the sequel trilogy. The LEGO group has a history of Disney Parks models, though not an extensive one and 75293 Resistance I-TS Transport has a unique place in that timeline for being based on The Rise of the Resistance attraction at Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
The combination of a niche source material, just over a month on shelves and a cast of characters that only a few would be able to pick out in a crowd, despite their quality, means that 75293 Resistance I-TS Transport was always destined to be one of least memorable LEGO Star Wars sets. 2 – 75297 Resistance X-wing Starfighter
Rounding out the sequel trilogy representation in this report is the only model for the movies in 2021 and the second to last to be released. 75297 Resistance X-wing Starfighter is a 4+ model that borrows much of its design from 75235 X-wing Starfighter Trench Run.
The build’s existence as a 4+ set doesn’t make it any less memorable than that X-Wing model though. It also doesn’t help its situation as it likely felt ultimately too familiar to any interested enthusiasts while being based on a newer and therefore less recognisable iteration of an iconic ship. The LEGO Group has yet to properly return to the sequel trilogy outside of a single seasonal diorama on shelves for a few months and a single minifigure in 75389 The Dark Falcon too.
1 – 75119 Sergeant Jyn Erso
There seems to be a reason why the LEGO Group has not returned to its line of buildable Star Wars figures using the Constraction building system and while some characters were particularly good fits for the collection, others faced issues due to their organic nature. 75119 Sergeant Jyn Erso is one of these sets and you can still pick it up from major retailers for less than its RRP almost eight years later.
The Rogue One buildable figure has been all but forgotten by the LEGO Star Wars community, aside from those who may revel in the occasional discovery of one mint in the box at retail. Whether you loved or disliked the buildable figure concept, it’s a part of LEGO Star Wars history worth remembering, for one reason or another.

Honestly, I loved the Hoth UCS when I got it. I think the only issue was perception. It wasn’t what people wanted out of something with the UCS designation. I think if it had been made as a huge playset it would’ve been really popular. I personally think the Hoth set is a great idea, and if we saw more like it in the same vein of sets as the recent Yavin 4 I’d definitely buy them!
It’s grown on me over the years but at the time, I can certainly see why some fans weren’t happy.
Relieved to get to the end of the list and only own two of them.
