Transformers movie fans need to see this LEGO Icons Bumblebee mod

If you need any more persuading on LEGO Icons 10338 Bumblebee, this mod might convince movie lovers who weren’t sold on the retro Transformers look.

10338 Bumblebee is based on the G1 version from the 1980’s but many Transformers fans might best know the yellow Transformer from his live-action movie appearances when the series was rebooted in 2007 by Michael Bay. The live-action films saw some design changes for Bumblebee for his new look opposite Shia LaBeouf but one LEGO builder has modded the newly-released LEGO Icons set to suit his live-action appearance.

Ransom_Fern is somewhat of a mech specialist on Rebrickable, with dozens of different designs. They’ve taken the bricks included in 10338 Bumblebee and turned into a stockier, more movie-accurate version of the kind-hearted Autobot.

You won’t need to buy any extra bricks to make this version of Bumblebee, only what’s included in the LEGO Icons set. The instructions cost $10 to download at Rebrickable, coming to a total of around £85.99 or $99.99 with the cost of the set included.

The same goes for Ransom_Fern’s companion mod for 10302 Optimus Prime, doing the same for the earlier LEGO Icons Transformer set based on the leader of the Autobots. Both sets of instructions are included in a bundle on Rebrickable, if you want to double up on movie-accurate builds for $17.50.

Check out the alternate 10338 Bumblebee build in a video, showing off every angle in the embedded video below.
