We’ve got LEGO Fortnite, what about LEGO Rocket League?
A fan-made trailer for LEGO Rocket League is hoping to convince the LEGO Group following the start of LEGO Fortnite with Epic Games.
A new trailer for a LEGO Rocket League concept on LEGO Ideas might trick you into believing that the partnership is official, but that’s not quite the case yet despite the quality of the trailer.
Believe it or not, this isn’t an official trailer from the LEGO Group or Epic Games, but a trailer for a LEGO Ideas project from Sam67c, who you may know as the fan behind the Kerbal Space Program project from the second 2023 review.
Their proposal isn’t for a LEGO Rocket League game, though the LEGO Group’s current partnership with Epic Games means that this crossover isn’t impossible. Still it’s not in the works officially at the time of writing. Epic Games owns Rocket League after their acquisition of the game’s developer Psyonix in 2019. Since then, some of the game’s vehicles have been integrated into Fortnite.
Even without the potential of this becoming a reality thanks to the partnership, there’s no denying that the trailer is impressive and convincing. The faithful recreations of the vehicles portrayed in the trailer seem realistic to put together and play with too. The animation featuring the individual strands of grass matches that of the Rocket League too.
For a LEGO Ideas project, this is a lot of effort to go to in the hopes of drawing support for the submission. At the time of writing, the Rocket League project has just shy of 1,000 supporters.
While we wait to see what happens to the submissions, the LEGO Group’s official partnership with Epic Games is rumoured to lead to an array of Fortnite models later this year. These details have yet to be confirmed though and they should be taken with caution.
