Which era of LEGO Star Wars has been underrepresented the most?
25 years and 700 sets later, LEGO Star Wars’ split of models based on the eras of a galaxy far, far away reveals which has been covered the least.
LEGO Star Wars turns 25 this year as one of the longest-running themes in the LEGO portfolio and to celebrate the anniversary, we’ve dived deep into the theme’s massive portfolio to plot exactly how much each official era has been covered so far. You can see which projects belong to which era in the following image.
Unsurprisingly, the prequel and original trilogies come out on top thanks to their release before most of the other official eras and being the only eras represented during the first 10 years of the theme. We’ve provided our findings in the following line chart.
Alternatively, here are our full findings in a table for you to browse. For this research, we counted any representation of eras in sets in one entry, meaning advent calendars usually counted for up to three eras and the 25th-anniversary models occasionally counted for two.
We’d also note that we’ve not counted the two Rebuild the Galaxy sets for this data since they represent a wider swathe of possible timelines in Star Wars history and we don’t know exactly what era the story starts in at the time of writing. Their effect on the rest of the data would have been minimal in any case. The Old Republic is also being included to represent the non-canon Knights of the Old Republic builds and minifigures.

While it’s not surprising to see that the Fall of the Jedi and Age of Rebellion eras have been by far the most represented in the theme, a more interesting revelation from this data is the fact that they have been so notably equal in their split. It’s only in recent years that the number of original trilogy models have vastly overtaken that of the prequels but it was the opposite during the early days of LEGO Star Wars.
The most interesting discovery from this data though is that the sequel trilogy has more sets than Reign of the Empire, which features the likes of Star Wars: Rebels, Andor, Rogue One and Obi-Wan Kenobi. It’s not currently beating it by much though and with a second season of Andor on the way, it’s entirely likely that it will be overtaken shortly.
At 76 sets or other kinds of representation, the sequel trilogy is also at risk of being overtaken by The New Republic era in due time, especially with a Mandalorian movie coming to the big screen on May 22, 2026. It’s currently at 32 sets but features the likes of The Mandalorian and Ahsoka, both of which have more projects on the way.
Currently, the High Republic is the most underrepresented era in LEGO Star Wars with just three models from the past two years (this includes one small build in 75395 Advent Calendar 2024). It’s followed closely behind by the Old Republic (counting the non-canon Knights of the Old Republic models and minifigures). Since the New Jedi Order era has yet to start, we’ll have to see whether that receives any representation and how much when the new Rey movie releases.
Considering that LEGO Star Wars has been going for 25 years so far, the split between the prequel and original trilogy at least is more equal than we expected and will be interesting to see how the data changes over the next 25 years. 2024 isn’t over just yet too, though currently no further LEGO Star Wars sets are confirmed aside from those releasing on August 1.
