New LEGO Star Wars book shows off unreleased version of a rare minifigure

The upcoming The Force of Creativity coffee table book gives us a glimpse at a mysterious unreleased version of a rare LEGO Star Wars minifigure.

As part of the LEGO Star Wars theme’s 25th anniversary celebrations the company will be publishing a new 312-page deluxe hardcover coffee table book, complete with slipcase and collectible extras. The Force of Creativity will be available for pre-order from May 1 and then launch on July 20 priced at £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99.

The Force of Creativity has been written by former Brick Fanatics editor Graham E. Hancock and includes interviews with more than 50 insiders across Lucasfilm and the LEGO Group. The book promises to tell ‘the inside story’ of LEGO Star Wars, covering official sets, video games, the fan community, immersive real-world experiences and more.

Also included with The Force of Creativity will be a time capsule of collectible LEGO Star Wars memorabilia, including intriguing development art for an unreleased Zam Wesell minifigure from 2020. At first glance the character might be an unusual choice to appear in the book, but has in fact only appeared in a single LEGO Star Wars set to date.

7133 Bounty Hunter Pursuit was released way back in 2002 and recreated Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker’s fast-paced Coruscant speeder chase scene from Attack of the Clones. The Clawdite bounty hunter possessed the ability to change her form, with the set’s minifigure emulating that trait with a double-sided head print.

It’s not yet been revealed exactly which existing or abandoned LEGO Star Wars set the revised Zam Wesell minifigure design might have been included in (if indeed she was designed for a specific set), as no models based on Episode II were released in 2020.

We’ll no doubt be able to find out more when The Force of Creativity is published on July 20, with pre-orders for the LEGO Star Wars book starting from May 1.
