A Batman Beyond Spider-Verse-style film is being pitched

A Batman Beyond animated movie is being pitched to Warners Bros. Pictures and DC, seemingly inspired by the Spider-Verse movies.

2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’s effect on the animation industry may one day see a Batman Beyond project come to fruition at DC, as long as Spider-Verse production designer and producer Yuhki Demers gets their way.

“Before we pitched, they warned us that there was s absolutely no way we could do a Beyond movie, but they loved our enthusiasm. shared Yuhki Demers on X (formerly Twitter). We pitched the outline for the entire film, and what started as a never turned into a maybe.”

Demers revealed that they and writer and director Patrick Harpin have been pitching the project for the past five months hoping to attract the attention of James Gunn, who is now co-leading DC Studios. Their post on X may assist in their efforts and it features three pieces of concept art for the project.

For now, this animated Batman Beyond feature is only a pitch and it seems likely to have been inspired by the Spider-Verse movies (especially when its by a member of the film series’ team) in both its animation style and colour palette – not a bad movie series to be compared to.

Whether it will get picked up in the future is unknown though the success of the two previous Spider-Verse movies at a worldwide box office of $375 million and $690.9 million respectively suggest that it has potential. Such a project could help to diversify LEGO DC, which is rumoured to be getting a Batman: The Animated Series set later this year.
