First rumoured details on LEGO Ideas 21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas

The first details on LEGO Ideas’ The Nightmare Before Christmas set have surfaced online, pointing to a release date in the second half of 2024.

This year has already seen three LEGO Ideas sets land on shelves (21345 Polaroid OneStep SX-70 Camera, 21346 Family Tree and 21347 Red London Telephone Box), with a fourth seemingly right around the corner in the recently-teased Dungeons & Dragons 50th anniversary model. Another four are then said to be launching between June and October, bringing the total number of LEGO Ideas sets in 2024 to eight.

Instagram user falconbrickstudios now reports that Simon Scott’s The Nightmare Before Christmas will take the September 2024 slot, which is said to belong to 21351. Dungeons & Dragons is currently thought to be numbered 21348, with 21349 Cat following in June (with 1,710 pieces for $99.99) and 21350 Jaws dropping in August (with 1,497 pieces).

21351 The Nightmare Before Christmas is rumoured to include 2,193 pieces, which puts it firmly in the middle of the pack for LEGO Ideas sets as a whole – but makes it the second-biggest release of 2024, behind only Dungeons & Dragons (if these reports are accurate). Scott’s original project recreates multiple areas from Halloween Town, inspired by Tim Burton’s 1993 movie, with roughly 2,000 pieces.

That suggests the final model will stay wedded to the original submission in size at least, even if the LEGO Group modifies particular design techniques or colours. The initial pitch also includes eight minifigures – Jack Skellington, Sally Stitches, Dr Finkelstein, Lock, Shock, Barrel, Santa and Jack as Sandy Claws – but there’s no word yet on whether they’ll all make the final cut.

While we know definitively that a LEGO The Nightmare Before Christmas set is on the way at some stage, any further details should be taken lightly until we get official confirmation from the LEGO Group. Here’s how the full 2024 slate looks at the moment.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
