First look at LEGO Super Mario Donkey Kong sets

The early reviews for the LEGO Super Mario Donkey Kong sets are starting to arrive, showcasing what the Kongs bring to thetheme.

LEGO Super Mario’s newest expansion spin-off range, following Luigi’s Mansion, is all about Donkey Kong. It introduces buildable figures of various Donkey Kong characters and the three new sets are all compatible with the rest of the LEGO Super Mario models and the app.

Ashnflash on YouTube has showcased two of the sets so far including the all-important 71424 Donkey Kong’s Tree House.

The only LEGO Super Mario model to include Donkey Kong has several unique features and points to scan, including the hammock, drums and riding on Donkey Kong.

The new pieces in 71424 Donkey Kong’s Tree House are also shown off, such as the new three-stud-wide leg element and the bunch of bananas, as well as Donkey Kong’s feet.

A review of 71421 Dixie Kong’s Jungle Jam is also now available, offering a look at how Mario can only stand in the middle of the stage, and won’t sing into the microphone, unfortunately.

These two LEGO Super Mario and Donkey Kong sets launch on August 1 alongside 71425 Diddy Kong’s Mine Cart Ride and 71420 Rambi the Rhino

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
