LEGO 2K Goooal! misses potential EURO 2024 kick-off date

With the EURO 2024 tournament due to kick off on June 14, there’s still no sign of the long-awaited LEGO 2K Goooal! video game.

Football fans have plenty to look forward to over the next few weeks, as the EURO 2024 tournament kicks off on June 14, with host nation Germany going head-to-head with Scotland. With so much football action on the horizon, it’s therefore a little odd that there’s still no sign of the long-awaited LEGO 2K Goooal! video game.

The 2K Games title was rumoured back in February 2024 as being ‘right around the corner’ and could have potentially been released to coincide with this year’s Euros. However, there have been no indications or hints of LEGO 2K Goooal!’s existence since that time and all we know for sure so far is based on the game’s name appearing in an online rating and a listing from Amazon that’s been removed.

That page stated a September 15, 2023 release, a date that has since been and gone. The only other piece of concrete evidence of LEGO 2K Goooal! came from the official LEGO product certification page, which included an image of the 30629 Finnius Dash polybag, a promotional set that has also yet to materialise.

Some speculation suggests that LEGO 2K Goooal! may have been cancelled altogether or delayed indefinitely, although that’s yet to be confirmed. It’s worth noting though that a recent report from Reuters stated that parent company Take-Two Interactive’s fiscal report for the year listed about 40 titles in the pipeline through to 2027, down from 52 the year before.

“Our updated release schedule reflects the actions of our recent cost-reduction programme, through which we cancelled several titles to focus our efforts and resources on the franchises we believe represent our best opportunities to achieve significant critical and commercial success,” said Take-Two president Karl Slatoff.

“These titles did not include any of our core franchises and were not expected to materially affect our next bookings growth.”

In April 2024, Take-Two Interactive also confirmed that it would be cutting its workforce by 5% (around 600 people) and that would result in the cancellation of unnamed in-development game projects.

It’s not known at this stage if LEGO 2K Goooal! is included in that line-up of titles, but the game’s absence from any upcoming release schedules and missing a major footballing event could potentially suggest it may have been benched for the foreseeable future.

However, that remains pure speculation for now and we’ll bring you any updates regarding LEGO 2K Goooal! as soon as we have more information.
