LEGO City 60439 Space Science Lab officially revealed

A new space-based LEGO City set has been revealed in the shape of 60439 Space Science Lab, thanks to an Australian LEGO Certified Store.

LEGO City blasted off into space on January 1, with multiple sets released to take the enduring theme to the stars and beyond. That space exploration concept has also filtered across the likes of LEGO DREAMZZz, Technic and Friends, with the recently-revealed 42602 Space Research Rover added to the latter’s line-up just yesterday.

Now comes the official reveal of yet another space-based LEGO City set, courtesy of an Australian LEGO Certified Store and the official Building Instructions page. Bricks Megastore has added a listing for 60439 Space Science Lab, a 560-piece model that will retail for $69.99 AUD (approximately £39.99 / $45.99 / €45.99) and is apparently due to launch on April 1.

The LEGO City build features a domed laboratory that folds out to reveal a number of rooms inside including a botanical tower of alien plants, a control room with two workstations, sleeping quarters and a kitchen area complete with juice and water dispensers.

60439 Space Science Lab comes with a planet exploration vehicle with wheelchair access, a food-delivery drone, two space crew minifigures and an alien figure. Images of the set show that the wheelchair accessory can also be attached to its own set of rocket boosters for fast-paced flying fun!

Thanks to two special orange air-lock elements included with 60439 Space Science Lab, the set can even be connected to other compatible 2024 space-related models. In addition, the LEGO City build acts as an expansion for the previously released 60434 Space Base and Rocket Launchpad.

There’s currently no official listing on LEGO.com for 60439 Space Science Lab, but we’d expect full details and international prices to appear very soon.
