LEGO confirms more space sets coming in 2024 from Art, Icons and more

The LEGO Group has confirmed that more space sets are on the way in 2024, from themes including Art, Icons and more.

LEGO Space is back in a big way this year, with new ‘space’ branding appearing across sets from Creator, City, Friends, DREAMZzz, Technic and more. A common thread linking otherwise distinct models, this branding is anchored around the tagline ‘explore endless way to space’, which has popped up in a new banner on display at London Toy Fair.

The tagline is surrounded by planets corresponding to 10 different LEGO themes, seven of which have so far dipped their toes into the cosmos: City, Classic, Creator, DREAMZzz, DUPLO, Friends and Technic. The remaining three – Art, Icons and Minifigures – have yet to broach the concept of space in 2024, but this graphic suggests that they will.

Each of the planets shows off elements of sets from its respective theme, such as 60430 Interstellar Spaceship (City), 71475 Mr. Oz’s Space Car (DREAMZzz) and 31152 Space Astronaut (Creator 3-in-1). Minifigures simply features a head floating through an asteroid field, Icons includes 2021’s 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery and Art eschews a planet altogether in favour of just a solar system.

That lines up with recent rumours of LEGO Art’s next set, 31212 The Milky Way, which is said to launch in May with 3,091 pieces in the box. Whispers of a Space-themed LEGO Collectible Minifigures series have been doing the rounds since last year, meanwhile, along with reports of at least one new Classic Space-themed LEGO Icons set.

None of those should be considered explicitly confirmed by this image, but it does give some credence to their validity. At the very least, we can safely expect all of these themes to shoot for the stars in some way in the next 12 months. (Icons could just rest on the laurels of 10283 NASA Space Shuttle Discovery, but that doesn’t feel at all likely.)

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
