LEGO Ideas 21350 Jaws is the star of its own brick-buster mini-film
The LEGO Group has created the first-ever summer brick-buster mini-film to celebrate the upcoming release of LEGO Ideas 21350 Jaws.
Today saw the highly-anticipated official reveal of 21350 Jaws, a 1,497-piece set based on a successful LEGO Ideas submission by Johnny Campbell. Priced at £129.99 / $149.99 / €149.99, the upcoming 18+ movie model will be available exclusively for Insiders to reel in from August 3, while everyone else gets a chance at hunting down the build from August 6.
To celebrate the arrival of 21350 Jaws next month, the LEGO Group has created what the company is calling the first-ever summer brick-buster mini-film in homage to Steven Spielberg’s 1975 cinematic blockbuster.
Jaws in a Jiffy is a 90-second re-telling of the movie in LEGO form, complete with everything that’s included with 21350 Jaws, such as the Orca, the great white shark and three minifigures. As usual with any sort of LEGO animated project, tongues are kept firmly in cheeks at all times and the film’s biggest scares and shocking moments are played for laughs.
For instance, as Jaws in a Jiffy lacks a voiceover for Chief Brody’s iconic ‘You’re gonna need a bigger boat’ line, the character’s minifigure instead flashes up an image of 10294 Titanic. Likewise, the shark’s blood-soaked devouring of Quint takes place off-camera and the creature’s final fate is distinctly PG-rated in tone.
The brick-buster movie even ends with a surprise cameo from a minifigure version of Steven Spielberg himself. The award-winning director was first immortalised in LEGO form in 1349 Steven Spielberg Moviemaker back in 2000, although his minifigure wasn’t officially named as such.
21350 Jaws will be available for Insiders members to purchase from August 3, with a wider launch taking place from August 6. The LEGO Ideas set is priced at £129.99 in the UK, $149.99 in the US and €149.99 in Europe.
