LEGO Ideas project gets another chance, including LEGO Wonka

The latest LEGO Ideas review is a bit sweeter now thanks to a second attempt at a Charlie and the Chocolate Factory set, just in time for Wonka.

LEGO Ideas user 2PPL, also known as Italian builders Roberto Ceruti and Jody Padulano, are trying again at getting their Charlie and the Chocolate Factory project made into a real LEGO set, earning a spot in the third 2023 review. Their first attempt in the first 2021 review was not approved, though that’s not to say that they don’t have a chance this time.

The model appears to be mostly identical to their original submission, but the description discloses that there are updated pieces and colours. Otherwise, the waterfall is still able to turn and there is even a space to add motorisation.

Minifigures of Charlie Bucket, Willy Wonka, Augustus Gloop, Veruca Salt, Violet Beauregarde, Mike Teevee and two Oompa-Loompas are proposed and while this project is based on a variety of the story’s forms across the book and its movies, it’s second time hitting 10K times well with the recent release of the Wonka prequel film.

This is the 41st project in the third 2023 LEGO Ideas review, which is likely to reach its submission deadline soon as we’re now into 2024.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
