The LEGO Group signs deal with leading talent agency WME

Hollywood-based talent agency WME has signed a deal with the LEGO Group to boost the company’s footprint in the entertainment world.

The first trailer for Piece by Piece recently dropped, with the unique upcoming animated biopic retelling the life story of music superstar Pharrell Williams in brick form. The project was set up by Hollywood-based talent agency WME, between clients Williams and director Morgan Neville and the LEGO Group, with the latter co-producing the movie.

Now WME has gone one step further, signing a deal with the LEGO Group to represent the Danish company within the broader entertainment world. The news was first reported by industry insider Deadline, with the agency said to be advising the LEGO team, “across the entertainment industry and providing insight and support on strategies to optimize the company’s footprint in Hollywood.”

As well as Piece by Piece, the LEGO Group currently has a number of other projects in the pipeline with Universal Studios, although no details regarding what they might be have been revealed so far. The report notes that the deal between the LEGO Group and WME will help to build the company’s business, “across film, TV, music, fashion and art, and create meaningful talent partnerships.”

The LEGO Group has met with varying degrees of success when it comes to its animated projects, although the company’s various films have still managed to gross an eye-watering $1 billion to date.

Piece by Piece will be released on October 11, 2024, with rumours suggesting the film might be getting at least one dedicated LEGO set at some point this year, although that remains speculation for now.
