LEGO Star Wars’ next Ahsoka set draws early comparisons
The next LEGO Star Wars Ahsoka set is already drawing comparisons to one of the most memorable LEGO Star Wars models in recent years.
The official reveal of 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea may have drawn your attention with its impressive array of exclusive minifigures, but it should also remind you of another location-based LEGO Star Wars set based on a Disney+ series, as enthusiasts online have noted.
75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader has 408 pieces and four minifigures for £44.99 / $49.99 / €49.99 with turning platforms to recreate a lightsaber battle. In comparison, 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea has 382 pieces and five minifigures for £49.99 / $54.99 / €54.99 and similarly features turning platforms.
It’s also worth noting that both builds are prominently grey, matching their source material. 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader drew criticism from fans before it was retired at the end of 2023 for the quality and colour of its build compared to the appealing minifigures. It’s an unfortunate comparison for the next Ahsoka set ahead of its August release but there are some key differences to keep in mind.
75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader launched months after the Obi-Wan Kenobi streaming series, meaning it was almost certainly designed based on concept art rather than the full scene.
By waiting longer after the series had released than with the Obi-Wan Kenobi set, the LEGO designers aren’t taking as much of a chance on 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea as they did on 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader, even including Ezra’s leap of faith as a play feature.
In a sense, that makes the new set more similar to 75386 Paz Vizsla and Moff Gideon Battle which was also released long after designers could take in the full context of The Mandalorian Season 3 scene. Both newer builds have around one year between the release of their respective scenes and the set’s launch.
Also taking a page from 75386 Paz Vizsla and Moff Gideon Battle‘s book, 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea isn’t just a grey portion of a planet to display minifigures. The black spires have been included for additional decoration that adds to the display and line designs run through the ground, though admittedly with the help of many stickers.
While there are some key differences between 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea and 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader, the price, number of desirable minifigures and piece count are all too familiar. Thrawn is a particularly desirable inclusion though that none of the minifigures in 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader can completely stack up against, at least not on the secondary marketplace.
75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea seems to be an evolution of the location-based sets based on Disney+ series that 75334 Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader trialled, increasing the appeal but sticking to the usual ratio of minifigures and pieces compared to the price.
At least it’s providing another Admiral Thrawn minifigure with dual-moulded legs when 75385 Ahsoka Tano’s Duel on Peridea launches on August 1 for £49.99 / $54.99 / €54.99.

Interesting that you should mention Obi-Wan Kenobi vs. Darth Vader, because the images of the new sarlacc pit made me think of that set. Instead of being a big slab of gray slope pieces, the sarlacc pit is a big slab of beige slope pieces. The base of the Ahsoka set is much more interesting and display-worthy, in my opinion, because of the angular and symmetric design. Also, Thrawn isn’t the only enticing figure in this set; I’m just as excited, if not more so, for the new versions of Ahsoka and Ezra, and I also like the Morgan and Night Trooper minifigures.
Oh I’m feeling the same way, but there’s no doubt that given how expensive Thrawn was on the aftermarket for a while, he’s a huge part of the set’s appeal!
