LEGO The Legend Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree has an ideal launch month

A brand new Nintendo reveal has set up the ideal launch for LEGO The Legend of Zelda 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, aside from one key detail.

September 2024 is turning out to be the perfect month to release 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 as the June 2024 Nintendo Direct has revealed a brand new The Legend of Zelda game – The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom which launches on September 26. That’s only a few weeks after 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 releases on September 1.

Some enthusiasts have even noted that in the new trailer, the Great Deku Tree is featured as he is depicted in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time, which just so happens to be an inspiration for one of the two builds in 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1. Link’s minifigures in the LEGO The Legend of Zelda set also match his appearance in the upcoming game too, as brief as it is.

It’s a great start for 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 ahead of its highly-anticipated release later this year but there’s one key detail missing from the LEGO set that would have made this opportunity even more perfect.

While a Princess Zelda minifigure is included in 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1, this is based solely on her appearance in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in blue garb and there is no minifigure for the character in her iconic pink and white dress, which she is sporting in the new game as it’s protagonist.

Instead, 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 features two link minifigures based on The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for his child and adult phases. While this makes sense in the context of the set and the source material, it’s a bit of a missed opportunity to time even better with the launch of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom in September.

Despite this, there’s little doubt that 77092 Great Deku Tree 2-in-1 has a near-perfect launch month ahead of it with the set releasing at the start of the month and a new game referencing one of its two models releasing at the end of September 2024.

It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes.
