Controversial PlayStation Network decision now also confirmed for LEGO Horizon Adventures

Sony angered gaming fans with a controversial decision when offering Helldivers II to PC gamers – and appears to be continuing with it for the release of LEGO Horizon Adventures.

Sony has been fielding criticism for weeks after announcing that PC gamers would need a PlayStation Network (PSN) account in order to play the game on a computer from May 6, 2024, despite players being able to access the game without an account since its release in February, negating months of gameplay. Existing players had until June 6 to get a PSN account but that doesn’t help players in 121 countries where PSN accounts are not available. These users are now eligible for a refund if they’ve already bought the game.

All in all, it was a controversial decision from Sony – and it’s also coming for LEGO Horizon Adventures. Thanks to the Steam listing now being live, we can see that there’s a warning notice reading: “PlayStation Network Account required, subject to the PlayStation Terms of Service and User Agreement.”

That means bad news for people in those 121 countries once again, who won’t be able to play the game, including those in Albania, Bangladesh, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, and dozens more besides. Those based in any of those countries should still be able to play the game on Switch or PlayStation 5, at least.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.
